Session Description:
In Vancouver, Canada, and Columbus, Ohio, harm reduction has emerged as a community-led response to North America’s overdose crisis. Sharing a story spanning three decades, journalist Travis Lupick will recount the central role that drug users played pioneering services like needle exchange and supervised injection in Canada. Colombus organiser Kasey Badgley will continue this empowering narrative, sharing how it progresses on the ground in Ohio today using a service-to-power model. Through the experiences of drug-user activists and their allies, this session will explain harm reduction programs and strategies that are saving people’s lives.
